About The Opportunity
This Carpenter position supports the Community & Facility Services branch through maintenance and small project work. This position is part of a multi-disciplined team that is capable of all types of minor construction, demolition and maintenance activities in a safe, professional and efficient manner.
About You
- You possess relevant licences, certificates and trade level qualifications in Carpentry.
- Demonstrated industry experience and ability to apply cross trade or advanced in-trade competencies across domestic, commercial and industrial areas of the building industry
- Demonstrated sound level project management and time management skills with the ability to apply them to projects and personal workflows. Including the ability to organise trades materials and equipment for crews and to coordinate with other trades to undertake specific work assignments.
- High level interpersonal skills and literacy skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with a variety of internal and external parties.
- Ability to understand and implement Safety and Quality Control techniques through inspection of products, materials and contractor services
- Ability to fault finding and problem-solve in the course of their work
- Possession of a current Class ‘C’ Driver’s License and a current Construction Industry General Safety Induction card
- Certificate level qualifications in project management is advantageous
- Experience in a similar role in Local Government is highly regarded
